"Refinding The People"

Hey Y'all!

So this week was transfer week and I am now in the Hurst 1st ward, even though I live in North Richland Hills. The ward covers North Richland and also Hurst as well. But my new companion is Elder Smith and we are really excited to work. So on Wednesday I get to the apartment and little did I know that it's pretty much the nicest apartment in the whole mission! And the whole reason why it's the nicest for me is that there is a washer and dryer in the apartment, which means no more paying for laundry!! Whoa!!!! There is an extra 15 dollars in my pocket for food! So I guess what had happened for the past couple weeks is that Elder Smith hasn't been in his area because he had his companion go home because of depression. So everyone that they had been seeing hadn't gotten a visit from the missionaries is 2 weeks. So when I got here, we got right to work trying to get back in contact with those that they hadn't seen in awhile. We were able to get in contact with one of their recent converts who is really solid. He actually went out and bought a brand new suit from Macy's and hasn't missed a Sunday in 3 months. He is doing really great! And he has a cat that is 35 Pounds!!!! It's a monster! But we went over the plan of Salvation with him to make sure that he remembered about what was taught to he earlier and he pretty much taught us it back. It went really great! He is on fire and is going to be getting the Priesthood this upcomingSunday I think. So we are excited about that and we are hoping that he gets a calling here soon as well. He was also able to go to our mission presidents fireside last night and loved it!

We were also able to talk to quite a few less active families as well. There are a lot of families that aren't coming to church and we are trying to find the right balance to find those families and also find other people to teach. We actually were able to identify a couple part member families that we are going to get in contact with this week that have expressed some interest in coming back to church. There is a sister in the ward who is in charge of our meals and she is setting up dinners with a lot of part member and less active families for us to meet. So we are really looking forward to meeting with them. Tonight we have a great night ahead of us. We have 2 appointments with referrals that we have gotten and they both seem really solid! We are going to be sharing the Restoration with both of them and also have a really great member coming out with us as well. Today for P Day we invited a less active to come play basketball with us and we are hoping that he makes it out with us. Sorry that this email is pretty short. We did a lot of knocking doors and trying to find people and we are hoping to have better luck this week! Thanks again for all the emails and have a great week!

Love,
Elder O'Brien
