"Training Meeting =Ana's Island Grill"

Hey Y'all!

So I'm going to be staying in Burleson for another 6 weeks. I am really excited because I also get to train a new missionary! I got a call last Wednesday saying that I will be training. I was really excited! Although there was kinda a spoiler alert. We had a zone meeting on Wednesday and one of our Zone Leaders came up and said that he heard I was training before I got the call. But the phone call from President just was the confirmation. But on Friday I had to go up to a meeting in Grapevine which is right above Euless. The meeting was fantastic! President talked about how we need to give the new missionary a good start to his mission. It's important that he hits the ground running and doesn't slowly get started. He really focused also on how we need to apply the Atonement of Jesus Christ in our lives every day and strive to become our best. It was a great meeting and I love listening to President speak. But after the meeting, I couldn't help but to take a nice drive through Euless and stop at Ana's Island Grill. Holy cow I miss eating at that place like 2-3 times a week. That food is truly amazing. I had a hard time deciding which was better, the meeting or eating at Ana's again. Haha! It was a tough decision. But I'm very excited to train a new missionary and I really hope that everything will go well for his first couple days. Me and Elder Reas have been trying to set up appointments for his first couple days so that he can just jump right in and lose himself in the work.

But about this week! It was a some what slow week for us. People are starting to disappear for the holidays. A lot of people usually disappear into stores and don't show up until like 8 in the evening. We had quite a few appointments cancel because they were too tired because of all the Christmas shopping. Who knew shopping could wear  you out right? We have been sharing a video called He is the Gift. I recommend watching it. It will take up a whole 2 1/2 minutes of your day, but it's worth it. A lot of the people that we show the video to are not members and they love the video. Everyone usually takes a second look on why we have Christmas. We were talking to a family yesterday and she said it's so hard to find a nativity set here now. She said Wal-mart only had like 2 or 3 of them on sale. I was pretty shocked when she said that and Texas is a huge Christian state. But she really enjoyed the video and shared it with her friends right after we showed it to her. It was pretty cool. We also were at the hospital yesterday for awhile. A less active member was there and he already isn't doing too well. So that was quite the scare when we found out he was in the hospital. We gave him a blessing and found out that he will be getting released today though which is good.

This week we are hoping to set a baptism date with the lady in the nursing home. She has a doctors appointment this Thursday to see if her foot is okay. She had a spot that still needed to heal from her surgery that was smaller than the size of a dime. So hopefully that is all healed. We are seeing her tonightwith a family that will be willing to drive her to church each Sunday. We are really happy and excited for her.

Last P day we helped someone move and it was supposed to take like 30 minutes to move, it ended up taking about 3 hours. So there was a lot more stuff that what we thought. But it was all right because we got some good food afterwards. So it was all worth it. We are going to be playing basketball this week and I'm really looking forward to it. It's been a long time. But I will let yall know about my greenie (new missionary) next week! Love yall!

Love,
Elder O'Brien
