"Happy Thanksgiving"

Hey Y'all!

I cannot believe how fast this week went. I was shocked when Sunday came around. But we had a really awesome week this week! So on Monday we had P Day and it ended up being pretty lame because we tried to play this game called Axis and Allies and it took like 45 minutes to set up and once we set everything up, we found out that we were missing quite a few pieces and a board that was important. So we ended up playing 'Fact or Crap'. Yup so with that awesome P day I hoped that the week would be that bad. Although the Fact or Crap was pretty fun to play. Tuesday was when the really good week started to come together. We found an investigator that had been taught by missionaries for like 4 years and they stopped going over. We called a member who had gone over with them in the past and we wanted to know where she was at and if she wanted to get baptized into the church. She wants to get baptized but she is also a foster mom. She had started to go to this non-denominational church a year ago and her kids that she fosters like to go there. She wants to go to church with all her kids and she doesn't know how they will like the change. But she knows that what we teach is true. The member that we brought asked why she would go to a church that she doesn't like and knows that she isn't getting all the nourishment she wants and needs. She agreed with that and said she would pray about it. We are trying to go over this week and also have the Young Mens and Young Womens advisers come with us and tell her some of the things that they do. She is awesome, but we just need her to come to church and see what it's like.

On Wednesday we were able to teach our investigator at the nursing home and she is awesome! We read the Book of Mormon with her on Wednesday and also on Friday. But the amazing this happened was on Sunday. We taught the Word or Wisdom to her and she likes to drink tea and coffee. Well part of the Word of Wisdom is that we should not drink those because they bring harm to our body. We talked about the blessing of living this commandment and how she will run and not be weary and walk and not faint (D&C 89). We talked more about those and she dropped those things right on the spot. It was so cool to see her exercise her Faith and drop it just like that. She is ready to be baptized and really wants it to happen. She has a doctors appointment today to see if she can get her foot wet so she can get baptized. If she does pass, we are going to try to set a date with her to be baptized on the 27th of December. We are really excited and hope that everything works out!

We were also able to set  a baptism date this week with the other 9 year old we are teaching. She was going to get baptized in San Diego but that's not going to work out for them. So she is going to be baptized her on the 6th. She is really awesome! We had dinner and a lesson at her house and it went really awesome! We had some really good tacos for dinner and we talked about the Gospel of Jesus Christ. She understood everything about it and she is really excited to make that commitment to get baptized! :) Our other 9 year old, he is doing really great as well. He is still good for getting baptized on the 6th and we also taught him last night the same thing. He payed attention as well which is really good. He seems to be still excited to be baptized but still doesn't want to sit down and listen. I can understand because if I was that age, I wouldn't want to sit down and listen to missionaries either. I would want to play games or something more fun. Haha! So we are still making it more interesting and fun for him. Our last investigator that we taught this week, we had to drop her date for the 13th of December. She still wants to get baptized, but she is going out of town for a couple weeks and we aren't going to be able to teach her all the things she needs to know by then. She is probably going to be baptized next year and she is still excited for that. We had an awesome lesson about the Plan of Salvation with her and it brought a lot of comfort to her knowing that she will be able to see her husband and also her son again who both passed away from cancer. We knew it would be a great lesson for her and she loved it!

Today For P day we are going to a museum and it should be really fun! For Thanksgiving we are going to be having 3 dinners already and we aren't trying to get anymore. We should be quite full this week. Hope that everyone has a Happy Thanksgiving and don't forget to be grateful for something besides the good food! Love all y'all!

Love,
Elder O'Brien
