"Sunday Sunday Sunday"

Hey Y'all!

This week was pretty great for us! We were able to get 2 new investigators this week! We have been teaching a lady who is a foster mom. She has been taught by missionaries in the past and we have been meeting with her for awhile. Well 2 of her sons decided to sit in and listen to one of our lessons. We were talking about how to recognize an answer from our Heavenly Father through the Holy Ghost. They were really interested. The older son who is 16 kept throwing out examples of experiences that he has had about praying and asking if that was an answer. We read a scripture out of the Book of Mormon that talks about how the Holy Ghost directs us to do good and how the Adversary directs us to do evil. We helped that family gain a better understanding of praying and really searching for an answer. They are trying to decide to move to Arkansas or not and this lesson really helped them to know if they should or not. So that was on Saturday that we had that lesson. On Sunday, they came to church! She has had missionaries coming to her home for 5 years and none of them have gotten her to church and she came! We were so excited that she made it and brought 2 of her kids. What made it even better was that they loved it! We had the young men take her 16 year old and help him out and he now is wanting to go on a mission and was asking how he could go on a mission. So we were really happy about that! But it gets even better. Last night we had out Monthly Mission President Fireside and this is when we invite our investigators, our recent converts, and also our less active families we are working with to come and listen to our Mission President speak. The 16 year old that wants to go on a mission came with us and had an awesome experience! He loved it and really wants to come back to church next week. We are really excited for this family and how awesome they are responding to the gospel. But it gets even better, after 17 months in Texas, I'm still not a Dallas Cowboy fan and was very pleased to hear that they are out of the playoffs! So Sunday was a great day for me and Elder Smith. Haha!

Our investigator who is at the nursing home is doing really great! We took our Relief Society president over to meet her and they had a great time talking and getting to know her. I feel really bad that she doesn't ever have any visitors besides us. So it was really good to introduce the Relief Society President to her. She will be able to have more sisters come up to see her and also be able to come up as well. We were able to find another Less Active family who hasn't been to church in awhile. She has a house that if full of old stuff. Like from the 1700's old stuff. She was showing us all sorts of stuff and it was actually pretty cool to see how some of the stuff has stayed in really good shape. But as soon as we started to talk about church, she was very blunt and saying how she doesn't like going anymore. So it was still a really good visit because now we know that she is going to take some time to get back to church. She wants us to come back though which is really good.

This week we have Zone Conference and we are really excited to hear what President Ames will be training us on this Thursday. I love hearing what President has to say and what we can do better. He is excited for this upcoming year and he is wanting us to be just as excited as he is. We don't know what we are going to be doing today for P Day. We are probably going to be going to the Goodwill and see if there is anything valuable that we could use. Something that will keep us entertained. Hope that all y'all have a great week and thanks again for all the emails!

Love,
Elder O'Brien
